Our Origin Story

In 2019, The dsgnrs.wrkshp (pronounced designer’s workshop) collective launched as a reclamation of Black maker presence within the built environment. Our work focuses on the nourishment of cross disciplinary engagement, opportunities, and resources between Black designers, fellow creative networks, ALLIES, and institutions.

we’re a proud educational partner and program curator of cooper hewitt smithsonian, we encourage young inner city teens to apply to Design hive for paid design education!

We’re creating the future of design FROM THE BLACK GAZE, blurring the lines between art, CULTURE, and technology. We accomplish this through programs that PROMOTE ALTERNATIVE CREATIVE APPROACHES WHILE CHALLENGING strategy and practice. WE CURATE workshops, seminars, productions, field trips, and events centered on resistancE, healing, and celebration.

Sharing stories our way with the intention of improving Black representation across industries as designers, educators, mentors, subject matter experts, collaborators, or consultants.
